Build your own ring
As you advance through this page you will go through the process of seeing everything I have to offer when choosing what you want for your custom wedding band. After you are done deciding what you want, you can go to the wedding band page and order your ring from the style you want with all the options you decided you loved.
Ring size
Before you go too much further than the first step, the most important thing to know is your ring size. If you don't already know what your ring size is, then you should probably get that squared away first. Most every jewelry store will be able to help you size your fingers for FREE! If you are wanting a wider band than is normal, it would be a good idea to let them know this as the wider the ring is, the larger in size you may want it for comfort and removal.
Width
Next you will want to choose how wide of a band you would like. I offer three different options (if you'd like something different feel free to reach out to me and we can discuss other options). 1/4 inch wide bands are typical for a woman's band. 3/8 inch wide bands are typical for men's bands. 1/2 inch wide ring are the standard size that I made the majority of my rings at for years, it is much wider than your typical ring from a jewelry store, but it just shows off so much material!
Edge
This is a simple step, yet not one to be overlooked. You can choose from either a rounded edge or a chamfered edge on your ring. Round is a smooth hand sanded rolled edge that is both elegant and extremely comfortable. Chamfered is a machined angle that breaks over the hard 90 degree corner, yet keeps nice straight lines to add some flair, it's also comfortable and makes removal easy.
Style
Now comes the fun part. The style of ring you want. I currently offer 6 different styles of wedding bands, however I'm sure there will be more to come down the road. The terms "base material" refer to the hard material that is used to add a structural rigidity to your band, and "accent material" will be the material that is fun, bright, and beautiful. In the example photos, the base material will be the metal (stainless steel) and the accent material will be the green (resin casted in house).
ReinforcedThe base material will be used as a liner on the inside of the ring and the accent material will be the shell on the outside.

armoredThe base material will be used as a protective shell on the outside of the ring and the accent material will be used as a decorative liner.

purityThe base material will be used as a core with a single side that comes up. The accent material will be on a "shelf".
|
styrkeThe base material will be used as a core and the accent material will be used as thin, off-center inlay.
|
infinityThe base material will be used as core and the accent material will be used as a wide inlay in the center of the ring.
|
carbon wallThe base material on this ring will be used as a liner, while the accent material will be used as an inlay sandwiched between two thin pieces of carbon fiber.
|
Base Material
This material will be used as the "core" of the ring. It is a strong, durable material used to support the fragile material that will accent it. Not only does this make a stronger ring, it makes a ring that should last you a life time.
Aluminum7075 aluminum. You may be surprised to see this as an option as aluminum is not a standard material used in jewelry, however it has very similar durability as silver or gold, and it's extremely easy to work with. This material is offered as an entry level option.
|
carbon fiberCarbon Waves forged carbon fiber. Not all ring styles are offered with carbon fiber as an optional base material. All carbon fiber used in the Smith Crafters studio comes from Carbon Waves as it is always void free and of the highest quality. It has been tried and tested by myself and many other makers/artists not only in the ring making industry.

Stainless steel316L surgical grade stainless steel. incredibly durable, hypoallergenic, and holds a great polish. This material is great for most people with skin allergies to other metals. This type of stainless steel was chosen for exactly those reasons.
|
brass464-H02 naval brass. Brass has been used in the jewelry industry since it's creation because of its likeness to gold. However brass also has some other interesting properties as it patinas over time and becomes incredibly unique. This type of brass has a great corrosion and scratch resistance compared to other types of brass.

damascuss steel304/316 stainless steel damascuss made by Vegas Forge. 304 and 316 stainless steel are both jewelry and surgical grade steels. If you don't know, damascuss steel is made by taking two different types of steel and forge welding them together, and often twisting or some other way patterning the two steels together. After this steel is cut it is then etched in acid. The acid removes one of the metals faster than the other and reveals a beautiful pattern.

Copper110 copper is 99.9% pure copper. It is also jewelry grade. Copper is very unique metal with its rosy color and natural patina. Copper WILL turn your finger green over time. I do not yet have a decent way of coating the metal to prevent this.
|
sterling silverSterling silver is a standardized silver that is at least 92.5% pure silver. It is alloyed with other metals (copper and zinc) to make up the missing 7.5% and these metals help add to the durability and hardness. Sterling silver is, on paper, a more suitable metal for jewelry than pure silver because of the added strength and durability.

Accent Material
Now for that splash of uniqueness and beauty! The accent materials I use are what sets my rings apart from the standard rings you will find at an average jewelry store. I use high quality materials that many makers use to create all sorts of wonderful things. Some materials are sourced locally such as the micarta I use, others are created in house such as the cast resin (I exclusively use Alumilite brand resin when casting my own materials). Not all accent materials are fragile, but some are, and that's why we chose a hardy base material to accompany it with. Any material that is sourced from another company is given the name that the original creator of that material gave it. I prefer to keep it this way and give credit to those that spent the time honing their craft as I have mine.
Elk AntlerAll elk antler is sourced from either local (legal) hunters or sheds.
